Abstract
Background : Acne is the most common skin disease in the world in about 91% of men and 79% of women in their teens. Therapy that can be done to treat acne is an antibiotic class of drugs. The use of this antibiotic drug can cause side effects and even occurs resistance to antibiotics that are often used. The occurrence of resistance can lead to failure in acne therapy. Therefore, we need alternative treatments for acne using natural ingredients. One of the natural ingredients that can be used as an antibacterial is the white pepper plant. Method : . Conducted research and continued review of primary data sources obtained from electronic databases such as Elsevier, Journal, Pubmed, Google Scholar, Research Gate and others. Results: Based on the results of research and literature review studies, the essential oil formulas that may be used are the essential oil composition of white pepper (oil phase), Tween 20 (surfactant), PG (cosurfactant), and aquadest (water phase). Conclusion : White pepper essential oil has moderate to strong activity as anti-bacterial acne (S.aureus).
