This study aims to describe the village of Papringan, the history of begalan in Papringan, the procession of implementation and the meaning of the begalan tradition. Based on the research objectives, this research was carried out using the historical method, which is a method that analyzes events that occurred in the past. The stages include: 1. Heuristics (Stage of finding and collecting sources). 2. Criticism, criticism in this stage is divided into two, namely external criticism (criticism from the outside/authenticity of the source) and internal criticism (criticism in terms of credibility/reliability of the source). 3. Interpretation, namely interpreting and compiling data. 4. Historiography is the stage of writing history. The results of this study are Papringan Village which is a village located south of the Serayu river with its boundaries namely Kalisube Village in the east, Mandirancan Village in the west, and Binangun Village in the south, the majority of the livelihoods of the Papringan Village community are as follows: farmer. In addition to being farmers, the people of this Papringan Village still preserve some Papringan traditions such as alms of the earth (takiran) which is carried out every sura month, and begalan. The origins of begalan also have several versions, begalan being the most important part in the Papringan people's wedding procession. Begalan performances are still staged at the place of the bride and groom as the organizers. Meanwhile, the equipment used still uses kitchen utensils as a symbol of delivering advice. However, in terms of delivery, there are slight modifications, among others, in terms of language and media for gendhing accompaniment.
