Abstract

Free radical-catching antioxidants are compounds that serve to overcome free radicals, thus preventing damage to the body from the onset of degenerative diseases. One of the oils thought to have the potential to have antioxidant activity of free radical catchers is sunflower oil. This research aims to find out the antioxidant potential of free radical catcher of sunflower seed oil and the manufacture of its cream content. Determination of the antioxidant activity of free radical catchers is carried out by dpph method (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazin). The results of determining the antioxidant activity of free radical catchers in sunflower seed oil show a IC50 value of 48.35 ppm which can be categorized in antioxidants of very strong free radical catchers. Sunflower seed oil cream is made ready with smelting method. Results showed sunflower oil can be made sedian cream with physical properties test parameters such as organoleptic observation of active substances does not change shape, color, and smell. The cream homogeneity test does not show any particles are not mixed. The pH value of the 5th ready does not exceed the pH of the skin (4.5-6.5). The average viscosity value of f1,f2,f3 is 2966.67±41,633; 2160,00±26,458; ;3303.33±110,604 qualifies 2000-50000cP. The average scatter power value of f1,f2,f3, is 6.47±0.085; 6.50±0.173; 6,447±0.085 does not exceed 5-7cm for topical available.
