Abstract

Based on the preliminary observation, the resources are used in social study class are the printed books, take notes, observe the environments, and the internet. Limited learning resources make learning boring and students find it difficult to repeat learning material. Apparently, these resources are insufficient to develop students’ critical thinking. Thus, the writer proposes E-Modul (Electronic based modul) as the resource which is not only fun but also facilitates the students to improve their critical thinking skills. This study is intended to: (1) Describe and analyse learning resources used in Social Study Class in Grade V SD Gugus dr. Sutomo Kecamatan Mandiraja Kabupaten Banjarnegara. (2) Develop and analyse the e-modul for social study in elementary school (3) Knowing the teacher's response in the use of e-module of social study and (4) Knowing the student's response in the use of e-module of social study. This Study employs Research and Development by Borg and Gall. The research was taken in SD Gugus dr. Sutomo Korwilcam Dikpora Mandiraja Banjarnegara. The researcher used interviews, questionnaires, and tests in collecting the data. Data analysis by Miles and Huberman was used to comprehend the data. The review from the experts were also used in this study to validate the e-module. The instrumens were tested to gain validity and reliability. Normality and homogeneity of the test results were conducted to get further data on efficacy. The results show that: (1) The resources like printed books, internet and environments used in social study class have insignificant roles in developing student’s critical thinking skills, (2) E-Module was developed by flipbuilder.com, (3) E-module for social study can be accessed anywhere and anytime, and (4) E-Module is valid, reliable and effective to develop students critical thinking skills.
