This research was conducted to examine the politeness principles in My Lecture My
Husband film by Gitlicious. This study aimed to describe the compliance and
violations of politeness principles in My Lecture My Husband film. This study used
the basic theory of language politeness, especially the theory of language politeness
principles. This was a descriptive qualitative approach. The data were speeches of the
characters in the film consisting of 8 episodes. The data collection technique used in
the research was the observation nonparticipatory method, the advanced technique
used was the noting technique. The data were analyzed through the comparative
pragmatic method using the dividing key-factors technique. The analyzed data were
presented informally by describing ordinary words. The results of the study found 106
speeches of characters in the film consisting of 68 speeches categorized as compliance
and 38 speeches categorized as violations in the principles of language politeness. In
My Lecture My Husband film, there was a relationship between language politeness
and culture, religion, matchmaking.
