Abstract

The study aims to describe the forms of presumptions of soap and shampoo
advertisement products and the types of presumptions for soap and shampoo
advertisement products on YouTube in 2018. This study used a descriptive qualitative
method. The data in this study were obtained from 77 utterances of 53 advertisements
for soap and shampoo products. The source of data in this study is YouTube.
Procedure for providing data used an observational method. The observational
method includes (1) the basic technique of tapping (2) the advanced technique, in the
form of (a) observation nonparticipatory method (SBLC) technique (b) note-taking
technique, and data analysis using the pragmatic comparative method. The pragmatic
equivalent method includes (1) the dividing key-factors technique (PUP) technique,
and (2) the equalizing technique (HBS). This study resulted (1) presumption forms
consisting of semantic presumptions and pragmatic presumptions (2) types of
presumptions consisted of six types of presumptions, namely 3 utterance data of
factive presumptions, 9 utterance data of existential presumptions, 5 utterance data of
lexical presumptions, 1 utterance data of non-active presumption,5utterance data of
structural presumption, and 1 utterance data of counterfactual presumption.
