Abstract

Sunscreen compound is a substance that contains sun protection ingredients so that UV rays cannot enter the skin, whose effectiveness is indicated by the SPF value. Kersen leaves can be nutritious as a natural sunscreen because they contain secondary metabolite compounds that can function as antioxidants and sunscreens, including flavonoids, saponins, polyphenols, and tannins. This article review aims to determine the possible formulations to deliver cherry leaf extract in sunscreen cream preparations and to find out the experimental design and formula optimization techniques that are most suitable and can be applied practically. Method: Determination of the optimum formula using review articles with analysis of the effectiveness of kersen leaves as sunscreen, analysis of the effectiveness of sunscreen in cream preparations and analysis of the optimum formula. Results: Optimization of the formula can use conventional methods and methods of DoE (Design of Experiment). Design Expert is a DoE software. Conclusion: Optimization of sunscreen cream formula for Kersen Leaf Extract can use the D-Optimal Mixture Method Design Expert software.
