This study aimed to describe the students' mathematical concepts and dispositions.
The subject of the research was the eighth grade students of MTs Ma'arif NU 11
Purbasari. This study applied qualitative research methods using the Miles and
Huberman model which includes data reduction, data display and verification/
conclusion. Students were grouped into three groups, which were taken based on
the score of Final test in even semester, namely the students with low ability,
moderate ability, and high ability. 3 respondents were selected from each group.
Tests, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation were used to collect the data.
The research results showed that students with high abilities had a fairly good
concept understanding; they could find the right solution even they still experienced
errors to apply it and they had a good mathematical disposition, a good control
over decisions in dealing with mathematics. Students with moderate ability had a
low conceptual understanding; they could find a solution which was less accurate
and had a fairly good mathematical disposition, had good self-control. Students
with low abilities had a low understanding of mathematical concepts, could not find
solutionsand had mathematical dispositions which were good enough, had good
self-control.
