Abstract

Aging is a process that will happen to all living things that can cause
progressive changes in all organs including the skin.Aging can occur faster due to
the accumulation of free radicals such as exposure to cigarette sun and air
pollution, it is prevented by the presence of antioxidant compounds. The aim of
the research was to prove antioxidant and anti aging activity of moringa leaf (
Moringa oleifera L.) by determination of total phenolic content, total flavonoid
and antiaging test using collagenase Inhibitor method. Determination of total
phenolic content using folin-ciocalteau method with gallic acid comparator and
kuersetin comparator for determination of total favonoid conten. .Collagenase
enzyme inhibitor is performed to determine the ability of moringa leaf extract in
preventing premature aging by inhibiting collagenase enzyme on the skin. The
result of determination of total phenolic content and total flavonoid of moringa
leaf extract showed that the antioxidant activity and seen from the resultant level
were 10,45 (mgGAE / g extract) for total phenolic and 5,53% for total flavonoid.
The result antiaging activies with an 47,25 % collagenase inhibitors compared
with phenanthroline Inhibitors.
