The title of this research is Local Excellence-Based Education (LEBE) as A Concept of Preserving Batik in SMA Negeri 1 Sokaraja. This research aims to figure out; 1) the concept of local excellence-based education in SMA Negeri 1 Sokaraja; 2) the role and impact of LEBE in preserving batik in SMA Negeri 1 Sokaraja; 3) the process of batik making in SMA Negeri 1 Sokaraja as the local excellence of Banyumas regency. SMA Negeri 1 Sokaraja is one of schools in Banyumas that implements the LEBE. There are several new concept and programs to implement in the school such as Adiwiyata School Program, LEBE, and the program to make the school well-known of its Batik. The background of this research is the interest to know the LEBE in preserving Batik in SMA Negero 1 Sokaraja. The research uses qualitatively descriptive method to describe the existing phenomenon experienced by the subjects of the research such as the behavior, written description, and language used by people in certain context. This research method includes the stages of reduction, presentation, verification, and conclusion with three data collection techniques namely observation, interview, and documentation. The research takes place in SMA Negeri 1 Sokaraja, Banyumas regency. Based on the findings of the research, it is known that the program of LEBE was firstly implemented in SMA Negeri 1 Sokaraja in 2007 with three local excellences to promote namely Gethuk Goreng, Soto Sokaraja, and Batik. However, in 2010, the school decided to have only Batik as the local excellence to preserve. The decision is based on the possibility of trend persistence of Batik. The LEBE program has been the excellence program of SMA Negeri 1 Sokaraja until present time and known as the lesson of Entrepreneurship.
