Abstract

This research is aimed to find out the effectiveness of using basic
questioning with picture for teaching descriptive text at the eight grade students of
SMP Muhammadiyah Purwareja Klampok in the academic year 2018/2019. The
research used quasi experimental method. The writer used the population as a
sample, they were VIII A and VIII B class. The data was collected by giving the
test (pre-test and post-test). The technique to analyze the data was t-test formula.
It was used to know the different effect of treatment by using basic questioning
with picture. The mean of experimental class was 71.30 which was higher than
the mean of post-test of the control class 58.70. It means that there was difference
between the mean of experimental class who was taught using basic questioning
with picture and the control class who was taught without basic questioning with
picture. The data analysis was obtained that the result of ttest which was 6.77 was
higher than ttable which was 1.6859. Thus, it can be concluded that using basic
questioning with picture is effective to teach descriptive text.
