Abstract
This study aimed to reveal the factual conditions about the role of PPKn (civics Education) teachers in developing social care attitudes of students in SMP Negeri 6 Purwokerto. The method used descriptive of a qualitative approach. Informants in this study were PPKn teachers, eighth graders, and BK (Guide and Counselling) teachers. Interview, observation, documentation and literature study were used as the data collection techniques. Analysis of the data was done by data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing / verification. Based on the results of research, it showed that PPKn teachers played an important role in developing students' social care attitudes. This can be realized PPKn teachers who taught not only textually but also contextually during the learning process. PPKn teachers here provide more understanding, comprehension, moral values, warnings and advice as well as motivation to their students to be able to apply social care attitudes so that students are able to care more and have a sense of empathy for the circumstances of others.
