This research aimed to describe the types of directive illocutionary speech acts in the
Kartini film by Hanung Bramantyo. This is a qualitative descriptive study. The data in
this study are the utterance of the figures that contain the directive illocutionary acts
of utterance in the Kartini film by Hanung Bramantyo. The data source in this study is
the movie actors/ actresses in Kartini by Hanung Bramantyo. Research methods and
techniques are divided into three, namely the provision of data, data analysis
techniques and presentation of data analysis results. In the method of supplying data,
this study uses the observation method. This method has the basic recording
techniques and advanced techniques of Observation participatory method (SLBC). In
the technique of analyzing data, researchers used the method of matching with the
basic technique of dividing key-factors technique (PUP) and equalizing technique
(HBS). In the method of presenting the results of analyzing data, it is presented in
informal presentation. Based on the results of the analysis of research data in the film
Kartini by Hanung Bramantyo, it was obtained 6 types of directive illocutionary
speech acts including: requestives, questions, requirements, prohibitives, permissive,
advisories. From the data obtained, it totaled 148 directive illocutionary utterances
including: (1) requestives with 36 utterances, (2) questions with 50 utterances, (3)
requirements with 30 utterances, (4) prohibitives with 9 utterances, (5) permissives
with 10 utterances, (6) advisories with 13 utterances. Thus it can be concluded that
the most dominant type of directive illocutionary acts of speech in the Kartini film by
Hanung Bramantyo is the speech questions.
