Abstract

This research aims at giving detail description of the students’ expectation, motivation, and perception about EFL classroom of Grade XI at SMK Panca Bhakti Rakit, Banjarnegara. It belongs to survey research. The subjects of the research were 96 students of Grade XI consisting of two majors. The respondents were chosen using saturation sampling technique. This research used questionnaire to collect the data.
The result of the research shows that the students’ expectations consist of a good classroom management conducted by the teachers, interesting learning activities, and a good learning environment. The students expect to be able to speak English and improve their English ability after joining the class. Meanwhile, it can be inferred that the students have good motivation to master English but their efforts are still poor. They want to be good at English, but they do not have extra time to learn and practice English or take an English course, or some other efforts. In addition, the students’ perception about the EFL class is overall good. They think that the teacher has performed her role as a motivator for her students and is helpful during the learning process. They also perceived that the teacher has delivered the material slowly and repeatedly.Overall, they perceived that their English teacher performs very well in the class. Thus, the students still enjoy learning English despite of its difficulty.
