Traditional medicine is still favored by the people of Indonesia. Some people who use traditional medicine think that traditional medicines are safer and cheaper than chemical drugs. However, public knowledge about traditional medicine is still because it is limited to only herbal medicine. So counseling and direct explanation of the information that is being developed is still needed. The education chosen is a lecture which is active education. Method: This study used a quantitative approach. This research was an experimental research that used a quasi-experimental. Respondents were divided into two groups is the treatment group with the lecture method and the control group with the leaflet method. Results: The level of knowledge obtained before the lecture group respondent had a knowledge level of 62.96 after the research was carried out to be 88.25. While the respondents in the leaflet group, the level of knowledge obtained before the research was carried out was 61.2 after the treatment was carried out to 78.07. This shows that the lecture method was better than the leaflet, to increase respondents knowlwdge (p value <0,05). Conclusion: Education using the lecture method is effective in increasing knowledge about the use of traditional medicine in the Banyumas community because the p value <0.05.
