Abstract
The majority of Thai people are Buddhist. Meanwhile, Islam is only about 10%. In the world of banking, Islamic banks are indispensable to meet the needs of the Muslim community in Thailand. However, the potential of Islamic banks in Thailand is very minimal due to the problems involved in it. The purpose of this study was to determine the problems in Islamic Banks in Muslim minority areas by determining the main problems, namely problems and evaluation on The Islamic Bank of Thailand Prachuap Khiri Khan.
This research is a descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques: interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis uses primary data from the results of the Islamic Bank of Thailand Prachuap Khiri Khan interviews with the existing statutory regulatory approach. Data analysis was carried out through synchronization between the research data and the theory that would support the conclusions of this study.
This research shows that in the Islamic Bank of Thailand branch of Prachuap Khiri Khan its operational system follows the rules of Islamic shari'a. All operational activities carried out by Bank Islam Prachuap Khiri Khan are carried out based on the provisions issued by the government policy based on Islamic Sharia provisions. The bank faces several problems in running its banking operations. These problems include factors in the banking world in Thailand, internal factors related to the banking system and also the employees who work at the Islamic Bank, as well as factors from the customers themselves, which in fact are still lacking enthusiasm of the Thai Muslim community towards Islamic Bank. The evaluation that has been carried out by Islamic Bank on the problems faced is providing short courses to Islamic Bank employees, especially employees at the front office because in that section they often meet and socialize directly with customers. Then, providing more intensive socialization through various social media, socialization going down the mountain to Islamic foundations or schools in Thailand to attract interest and cooperation between the two parties, and Islamic Banks from the center to the branches conduct an annual evaluation to improve the banking system. and improving the quality of banking services to customers of the Prachuap Khiri Khan Branch of Islamic Bank.
