Abstract
Strengthening the value of nationalism in students is very important in this millennial era. One of the efforts that can be made to strengthen the value of nationalism in students is through history learning. This can be useful for students' lives and build the character of the nation in accordance with the identity of the nation so that Indonesia does not lose its identity. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Kejobong in the academic year of 2020/2021. This study aims to determine the process of strengthening nationalism value carried out by history teachers, the obstacles found in its implementation, and the solutions taken to deal with the obstacles found. The researcher used qualitative methods with a case study approach. Data collection techniques used non-participation observation, systemic observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The subjects of this study included the vice principal of student affairs, history teachers of eleventh grade, and eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Kejobong. Sources of data in this study were taken from informants, observations of historical learning activities, and study of learning device documents. Researchers used data and method triangulation to conduct triangulation tests. The sampling technique used simple random sampling. The data analysis used an interactive model of data analysis; data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The study results show that: (1) the current process of strengthening the value of nationalism is carried out by explaining the material and informing the wisdom that exists in every historical event. In addition, it is also carried out by giving various tasks. The nationalism values include patriotism, unity and integrity, willingness to sacrifice and braveness, discipline, and mutual respect. (2) Obstacles found include the Covid-19 pandemic, teachers' lack of IT skills, and obstacles that occur due to the circumstances of the students. (3) The solution is the teachers used the existing media and learned about IT. Moreover, the teachers also try to find information when students do not participate in learning.
