Abstract

This study entitled "Development of Teaching Materials Writing Job
Application Letters with a Contextual Learning Approach for Class XII Students of
Vocational Schools" is a research type of development research (R&D). This
research was conducted at the State Vocational School Parungponteng. This study
aims to develop learning modules to write job application letters with a contextual
learning approach. In this study, six stages are used, namely (1) potential and
problems; (2) data collection stage; (3) product design stage; (4) product validity; (5)
product revisions; and (6) product trials. The results obtained from this study are the
need for teaching materials to write job application letters according to the teacher
and students covering four aspects, namely (1) understanding of teaching materials;
(2) the need for teaching materials to write a job application letter; (3) the need for
physical forms of teaching materials; and (4) the need for the contents of teaching
materials. Data and analysis results of expert judgment on teaching materials
obtained results 78.16, good criteria. 77,20 results were obtained from users, good
criteria. In general, the feasibility of teaching materials writing job application
letters with the contextual learning approach is good. The product trial results in the
field obtained the average value of the experimental class pretest value of 62.5 while
the pretest value in the control class was 62.25. At the posttest stage of the
experimental class an average value of 72.5 is obtained while the average value of
the posttest control class is 69.25. Based on these results, a different test was carried
out using the Wilcoxon test, then the value of w-count (0) < w table (38) meant that
there was a significant difference in the experimental class using teaching materials
writing job application letters with a contextual learning approach to the class
controls who do not use teaching materials write job application letters with a
contextual learning approach.
