Abstract
This study aimed to analyze mathematical critical thinking skills of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Karanganyar viewed from Adversity Quotient (AQ). This research type was a qualitative descriptive. The research subjects were grade VIII E students of SMP Negeri 1 Karanganyar. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. The researcher implemented Adversity Quotient scale to categorize the AQ level of students and selected 3 samples from each of the high, medium, and low categories. Data collection methods were questionnaires, tests, and interviews. The data validation test used was triangulation test. The results indicated that the students' critical thinking abilities of low Adversity Quotient (AQ) had not mastered the stages of critical thinkingof synthesizing, inferring and evaluating. students with medium Adversity Quotient (AQ) were not mastering the stages of critical thinking skills of concluding yet. While students with high Adversity Quotient (AQ) were able to master all stages of mathematical critical thinking skills.
