Abstract

The low level of storytelling ability on the second grade students of SD Negeri Kalibatur was motivated by students who did not coherent in telling stories; the plot was not in accordance with what was told, the characters were incomplete and the story was not finished. This was a Classroom Action Research (CAR) with research subjects of the second graders totaling 18 students. Data collection tools used were in the form of tests, observation sheets and interview sheets. The results of this study mentioned that the paired storytelling technique was able to improve storytelling skills. Evidenced by the students' storytelling skills in the first cycle in meeting 1 obtained an average of 3.50 with good criteria and in meeting 2 obtained an average of 3.64 with good criteria. In Cycle II meeting 1 obtained an average of 4.65 with very good criteria, and meeting 2 obtained 4.84 with very good criteria. Based on the results, it could be concluded that the paired storytelling technique in Bahasa subject and SBDP material story retold by students in the second grade of SD Negeri Kalibatur had improved.
