The study, entitled "Women Emancipation of the Main characters in Menebus Impian novel by Abidah El Khalieqy. The research Implemented with the aim to describe the main characters and describe the representation of women's emancipation in the main character in Menebus Impian novel by Abidah El Khalieqy.
Advanced Research Methodology The research includes data that is women emansipasi in the main character. source of data is the Menebus Impian novel by Abidah El Khalieqy. Approach used in this study is the structural approach and the approach feminist. The application of step work approach. Firstly, the researchers conducted a structural analysis of novel which related with feminism, such characters, characterizations, and social background. Secondly, the researchers conducted with feminist approach, to reveal the emancipation which conducted female main character. Presentation of the results of data analysis using qualitative techniques.
The results obtained are as follow, (1) female main character in Menebus Impian novel, Nur Kemalajati and Sekar, because of the emergence of two dominant figures in the story (2) characterizations. The characters in Menebus Impian novel illustrated by using expository and dramatic technique, through the author's direct speech, behavior, activities, words of the characters, and events. (3) Background is taken as the focus of research is social background, because the social setting associated with feminism, as for the social background contained in Menebus Impian novel included a view of life, the local language, naming the character and social status figures. (4) the representation of women's emancipation the main character in Menebus Impian novel by Abidah El Khalieqy, found the following results, (a) emancipation within the scope of the family, including the emancipation of the child, who portrayed the character of Nur Kemalajati life choices that he took such as education, work and choosing a spouse, and the emancipation of the mothers and wives, who are the leaders and Nur Kemlajati Sekar. Sekar as mothers and wives also take the fight against violence and keridakadilan committed by her husband, being a wife Nur does not depend on her husband, she became the wife of an independent woman and build up its existence. (b) the emancipation of labor in social space, described by Nur Kemalajati figures. Nur worked in the formal sector as the choice of his life, he proved that women can succeed in the formal sector jobs with hard work and intellect he had. And against violence and abuse she received at work, while working in the field of nonformal Sekar open your own business as a life choice. (c) the emancipation of education in social space described by Nur Kemalajati of choice for college that he for study in faculty that he like, hard work and perseverance that he did for his education in the economic limitations.
