Abstract

Education is a learning process involving knowledge, skills, and habits, which significantly enhances the quality of human resources. However, many parents still lack the attention and motivation to support their children's learning activities, especially in mathematics, resulting in lower mathematics achievement than in other subjects. The purpose of this study is to describe the thesis titled "The Effects of Parental Attention and Student Motivation on Mathematics Achievement of Fifth-Grade Students at SD Negeri 1 Depok. This quantitative research employed an ex-post facto approach. The subjects of the study were fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Depok, totalling 37 students, and the parents or guardians of these students, also numbering 37. Hence, the total number of subjects was 74. The research instruments include tests and questionnaires distributed to the respondents. The test instrument measured students' mathematics achievement, while the questionnaire was given to students to measure their motivation for learning and to parents or guardians to measure their attention. The research findings are as follows: (1) Parental attention affects students' mathematics achievement, as shown by the SPSS calculation with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. (2) Student motivation does not affect mathematics achievement, as indicated by the SPSS calculation with a significance value of 0.877 > 0.05. (3) There is an influence of both parental attention and student motivation on mathematics achievement, as shown by the SPSS simultaneous test with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, and the coefficient of determination is 0.804, indicating that 80.4% of students' mathematics achievement is influenced by parental attention and student motivation.
