Abstract
The aim of the research was to investigate the language learning strategies in speaking that English Club students use at a public senior high school in Purwokerto. The researcher involved the English club students in grades X and XI of public school in Purwokerto in the academic year 2022/2023. This research approach is a quantitative approach. The research used a purposive sampling technique. The sample of the research was 30 students of English club students in the academic year 2022/2023. To obtain the data, the researcher used a questionnaire. Based on the data analysis, the researcher found that all language-learning strategies used a Metacognitive strategy in speaking because the data calculated students’ learning strategies on each aspect of Metacognitive strategies with most the average 4.05 as high with always used as the learning strategies because the students could understand English with the context such as; paying attention to the use of arranging, planning, and evaluating their English learning activities so then they know the learning goals that they had achieved in the learning English subject.
