Abstract
Character education plays a crucial role in shaping an individual's
personality. The complex challenges in student character formation arise from
rapid social and cultural changes. Technology, globalization, and shifts in lifestyle
can affect moral and ethical values. This study aims to examine the strengthening
of character education at Madrasah Diniyah Al-Hikmah, Limbangan Kutasari,
Purbalingga, supporting the formation of students' dignified, religious character in
accordance with Pancasila values.
This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, aiming to uncover
the meaning and essence of the implementation of character education (PPK) in
the non-formal educational institution, Madrasah Diniyah Al-Hikmah, Limbangan
Kutasari, Purbalingga. The subjects of the study include the head of the madrasah,
teaching staff, and students of Madrasah Diniyah Al-Hikmah, Limbangan
Kutasari, Purbalingga. Data collection techniques used are interviews,
observation, and documentation. The data analysis techniques employed include
data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The
validity of the data is ensured using triangulation techniques and extended
research time.
The study results show that planning and implementation are crucial for the
success of the character education strengthening program. Planning begins with
identifying character needs through input from various parties, followed by
developing a curriculum that integrates character education into subjects and daily
activities. Teacher training and special programs are designed to support character
strengthening, creating a madrasah culture consistent with the desired values.
Regular evaluations using various assessment methods indicate increased student
participation and internalization of character values such as honesty,
responsibility, and discipline. A comprehensive approach involving the entire
school community, active learning methods, continuous training, and data-based
evaluations has proven effective in developing students' character. These findings
affirm that effective character education strengthening requires a holistic approach
and active participation from all stakeholders.
