Abstract

This research aims to develop social skills through the storytelling method utilizing
illustrated storybooks at Raudhatul Athfal Maarif NU Sidareja. It constitutes a Classroom
Action Research conducted in two cycles, each comprising three sessions. The subjects of
this study were the participants of Group B in RA Maarif NU Sidareja, totaling 8
participants, consisting of 4 boys and 4 girls. Data collection methods employed in this
research encompassed observation, interviews, and documentation. The problem-solving
steps in this research comprised four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and
reflection. The analysis results of this study demonstrate an improvement in the
development of children's social skills. In the initial study, out of 8 participants, 2 children
(25%) were categorized as not developing (ND), 5 children (62%) were considered to be in
the initial stages of development (ISD), and 1 child (13%) was developing as expected
(DAE). In Cycle I, out of 8 participants, 5 children (62%) were in the initial stages of
development (ISD), and 3 children (38%) were developing as expected (DAE). In Cycle II,
out of 8 participants, 1 child (12%) was in the initial stages of development (ISD), 1 child
(13%) was developing as expected (DAE), and 6 children (75%) were developing very well
(DVW). In other words, there was an increase in the development of social skills from the
initial study by 88%, in Cycle I by 38%, and in Cycle II by 88%.
