Abstract

The study aimed to improve children's language development through hand puppet media in Group A (second-year students) at TK (Kindergarten) IT Bina Insan Mulia, Comal, Pemalang Regency. This study was classified as Classroom Action Research (CAR), with the research subjects consisting of 13 children, comprising 7 boys and 6 girls. The research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of 3 meetings, utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation methods. The results encompassed two cycles of classroom action research. Initially, the condition of language development indicated that 2 children (15%) were underdeveloped, 8 children (62%) were starting to develop, and 3 children (23%) were developing as expected. After the implementation of classroom action research (CAR) in Cycle I, an improvement was observed, with 5 children (38%) showing initial development, 7 children (54%) developing as expected, and 1 child (8%) showing excellent development. However, this outcome was not maximal, thus prompting the continuation of Cycle II. The results obtained from Cycle II demonstrated the success of the research, having reached the predetermined development targets with no children showing under or initial developments. The results indicated that 6 children (46%) developed as expected, while 7 children (54%) showed excellent development. The researcher concluded that 6 children (46%) were classified as Having Achieved the Expected Standard (HAES), and 7 children (54%) were classified as Having Exceeded the Expected Standard (HEES). The total success rate was 85%, thus indicating the success of this research. Therefore, it can be concluded that hand puppet media can enhance children's language development. Moreover, children's enthusiasm increased, making the leaming process more enjoyable.
