Abstract
The purpose of this research is to find out that through activities to differentiate between the
rough and smooth concepts of plants, children in class B 1 of Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal
Banyumudal Kindergarten. This research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which consists
of two cycles with each cycle consisting of three meetings. Problem solving steps consist of
four stages of activity, namely planning, implementation, observation, reflection. The research
data was obtained using the methods of observation, interviews, direct documentation of the
research subjects, namely the B 1 class of Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Banyumudal Kindergarten,
totaling 22 children, namely 11 boys and
11 girls. Next, the research data were analyzed in stages using qualitative descriptive analysis
of percentages from the initial study, cycle I and cycle II. After analysis, the research results
showed that there was a significant increase in the development of children's cognitive abilities.
In the initial condition, out of a total of 22 children, the cognitive abilities of the children were
not yet developed (BB), there were 8 children 36%, starting to develop (MB) There were 8
children 36%, there were 6 children 28% who developed according to expectations (BSH),
after this was done activities in the first cycle of 22 children, the ability of children who have
not yet developed (BB) was reduced to 2 children 9%, then children who were starting to
develop (MB) increased by 12 children 54%, developing according to expectations (BSH) to 5
children, and developing very good (BSB) increased to 3 children 14%. Furthermore, in the
implementation of cycle II of 22 children, the ability of children who had not yet developed
(BB) was 0%, starting to develop (MB) 2 children 9%, then children who developed according
to expectations (BSH) were 8 children 36%, and children whose abilities developed very good
to be 12 children 55% . so there is an increase in children's cognitive abilities from the initial
study, cycle I, and cycle II as much as 91% consisted of children who developed according to
expectations (BSH) 36% and developed very well (BSB) 55%. Thus the research results show
the success rate in cycle II = 91% completion limit. in other words, the research was successful.
