Abstract

Background: In Indonesia, traditional medicine is used as raw material for herbal
medicine. Although the use of traditional medicine has many benefits, there are
some that must be considered, one of which is heavy metal pollution from lead
Pb. Contamination from lead Pb can occur which is the possibility of absorption
of plant metals. The atomic absorption spectrophotometry method has high
sensitivity and selectivity to very small levels so that it can see the presence of
heavy metals such as Pb.
Method: Sample preparation using wet deconstruction method with Atomic
Absorption Spectrophotometry instrument.
Results: Aspiration performed in atomic absorption spectrophotometry shows that
turmeric knit samples circulating in the city of Purwokerto on the analysis of Pb
lead content that has been tested is not detected so that it can be consumed
properly. By using validation tested includes linearity test with correlation value
(r) which is close to 1, namely 0.9947 RSD value in precision test is 1.8210%.
The % recovery result is 82%. The results of the detection limit and limit of
quantitation are 0.00013 ppm and 0.00042 ppm, respectively.
Conclusion: Atomic absorption spectrophotometry can be used in the detection of
metals such as lead Pb
