Comprehension Skills through the Process Approach in Fourth Grade Students of
SD Negeri 1 Sumilir
This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the process approach
in learning on increasing reading interest and comprehension skills in fourth-grade
students of SD Negeri 1 Sumilir. The research was conducted in November 2023 in
the fourth grade at SD Negeri 1 Sumilir. The research subjects were 11 students,
consisting of 3 female students and 8 male students. The design used classroom
action research. This research follows the cycle process, including planning,
implementation, observation, and reflection. Tests, observations, and
questionnaires were used to collect data.
The results showed that the percentage of success in students' reading
interest in Cycle I was 63.64%, and in Cycle II, it increased to 90.91%. Therefore,
there was a 27.27% increase in students' reading interest from Cycle I to Cycle II.
The percentage of completeness in students' reading comprehension skills in Cycle
I was 68.18%, and in Cycle II, it increased to 86.36%. This indicates an 18.18%
improvement in students' reading comprehension skills from Cycle I to Cycle II.
