Abstract

This aims of reaserch is to know the background of the differentiated model, the
implementation and the interest of the differentiated learning model in social studies at
SMP Negeri 5 Wadaslintang. This reaserch uses a qualitative approach with
phenomenological methods. The research subjects were headmaster, teachers, parents,
and students. The method were used collecting data were observation, interviews, and
documentation. The collected data were analyzed using a qualitative approach using
the phenomenological method. The steps of the reaserch were data collection, data
reduction, data presentation and conclusions or verification. The results are the
differentiated learning model background in social studies at SMP Negeri 5
Wadaslintang was student learning readiness, based on student interests, student
learning profiles, and learning environment. Implementation of the Differentiated
Learning Model in social studies at SMP Negeri 5 Wadaslintang was used the eight
steps of the differentiated learning model implementation, and was carried out
properly. The differentiated learning process is according to students' interests, free in
doing assignments, choose based on their learning style profile, free in project and
product.
The data analysis results show that students who get differentiated learning are
attractive and interactive because they present different learning that students are given
the right to choose and get conclusions from their respective learning.
