This research entitled "Social Critique in the „Gadis Penjual Tangis‟ Short Story Anthology by Azwim Zulliandri: A Sociological Literary Study" aimed to describe the types of social critiques present in the “Gadis Penjual Tangis” short story anthology by Azwim Zulliandri. The approach used in this study was the sociogical literary approach. The object of this research was the social critiques discovered in the “Gadis Penjual Tangis” short story anthology by Azwim Zulliandri. The data used in this study were sentences or paragraphs containing social critiques. The source of data for this research is the short story anthology “Gadis Penjual Tangis” by Azwim Zulliandri. The data collection technique in this research used reading and note-taking techniques. The data analysis techniques employed were data reduction, data presentation, verification and conclusion. The results of this research include: (1) social critiques towards the government including critiques of abuse of power, lack of government institution services, and critiques of government policies; (2) social critiques in the economic field including critique of the lack of economic welfare of the community and critiques of the lack of jobs opportunities; (3) social critiques in the field of human rights, including critiques of violent behavior, critiques of fraudulent behavior, and critiques of abusive behavior; (4) social crituques towards society, including critiques of rule violations and critiques of the existence of hostility.
