This historical research aims to study the history and development of Lengger
Calung Banyumasan art and also the effort to preserve it. The sources in this
research are observation, interview, and documentation study. The results include
1) the art found during the development of Lengger Calung Banyumasan; a
traditional art such as Lengger Calung Banyumasan will keep developing and
being preserved. Therefore, it will require a spirit/support and activators for better
preservation, 2) the effort of Lengger Calung Banyumasan preservation; the
responsibility of the preservation has been hereditary from the ancestors, 3) the
roles of society in preserving Banyumas culture; as a good society, we have to get
involved in preserving and developing a local identity such as Lengger Calung
Banyumasan to keep it preserved from a foreign culture.
