Abstract
Learning that applies learning styles is a learning that can liberate potential and
thoughts. Creating learning by paying attention to students' learning styles means
providing for the needs of students in the learning process. On that basis, educators are
required to be creative and innovative in facilitating the learning needs of students with
various characteristics. The position of students and the learning styles of students
when learning is related to the expected learning objectives, how students choose,
obtain, process, and remember new information. The purpose of identifying or
mapping the learning needs of students is to provide opportunities for students to learn
naturally and efficiently, because each child has their own learning profile. Having an
awareness of this is very important so that teachers can vary their teaching methods
and approaches. As stated by De Porter, (2011: 110), a pioneer in the field of learning
styles, that factors that influence how to learn include physical, emotional, sociological
and environmental factors. The learning characteristics of each student are different,
Tutik Rachmawati (2015: 17) explained that there are 3 modalities (types) in learning
styles namely Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic. Purwanto (2009: 45) explains that
learning outcomes are often used as a measure in knowing how deeply a person has
mastered the material that has been studied. An achievement of educational goals in
students who follow a teaching and learning process is a learning result. The results of
the analysis of student learning outcomes data before identifying the learning styles of
students showed that the average achievement of mathematics learning outcomes in
the experimental class reached 76.04 and 76.13 in the control class. The highest score
achieved by students in the experimental class was 88.00 which was lower than the
control class which reached 92.00. The lowest score in the experimental class was
64.00, greater than the control class, which was only 60.00. The learning styles of the
30 students in this experimental class obtained visual learning styles of 13 students or
43% of the total students, auditory as many as 5 students or 17% of , and kinesthetic
as many as 12 students or 40%. The results of the data analysis test with the
Independent Sample T-test obtained tcount = 4.053. Meanwhile, the ttable in the 5%
significance level table is 2.0017. So it can be concluded that there is a significant
difference in the learning styles of students on learning outcomes in Mathematics in
class VI at SD UMP Banyumas.
