Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of work-life balance and work discipline
on job satisfaction with work motivation as an intervening variable for employees at Java
Heritage Hotel Purwokerto. The population used in this study were all employees of Java
Heritage Hotel Purwokerto. The sample of this research is 114 employees and the lower limit
of the sample is 103 employees using cluster sampling technique. Statistical tests and data
processing are carried out using Partial Least Square (SmartPLS). The results of this study
indicate that: 1) work-life balance has a not significant positive effect on work motivation, 2)
work discipline has a significant positive effect on work motivation, 3) work-life balance has
an insignificant positive effect on job satisfaction, 4) work discipline has an effect positive
significant effect on job satisfaction, 5) work motivation has no significant positive effect on
job satisfaction, 6) work motivation as an intervening variable does not have a work-life
balance effect on job satisfaction, 7) work motivation as an intervening variable does not
have a work discipline effect on satisfaction work. The test results of the coefficient of
determination (R2) show that the effect of work-life balance and work discipline on job
satisfaction with work motivation as an intervening variable is 26.6%.
