Abstract

Learning about Islamic Religious Education aims to instill understanding, starting with an understanding of paradigms, strategies, methodologies, and learning models so that teachers can provide opportunities for students to learn Islamic Religious Education learning. The learning model provided by the teacher at this time must be addressed. Teachers must be more varied, creative and not monotonous in explaining the material, teachers must also provide space for students to provide opinions so that students can think critically so that in everyday life students can solve their own problems, especially during the learning process. The purpose of this study was to determine the strategy of Islamic Religious Education teachers in improving the quality of PAI learning through the discovery inquiry approach.
This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research with research subjects namely the principal, teachers of Islamic religious subjects and students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Purwokerto. Here the researcher collects data from the field by conducting an investigation directly in the field to look for various problems that have relevance to this research. with interview data collection techniques, observation, and documentation. The data sources used are primary data sources and secondary data sources.
The results of this study indicate that the teacher's strategy in the learning process of Islamic Religious Education by using the discovery inquiry approach at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Purwokerto consists of several stages, namely planning, implementation, and evaluation. Supporting factors in the application of this approach are: a) Improvement of teacher human resources ;b) There is cooperation between teachers ;c) Facilities and infrastructure ;d) learning model. While the inhibiting factors are: a) students ;b) infrastructure ;c) teachers.
