Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the sociodrama method on storytelling skills playing characters and conveying the drama's mandate to fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Gunungwuled Koorwilcam Dindikbud Rembang, Purbalingga Regency.
The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method using a non-equivalent Control Group Design research design. Teacher and student performance data were collected using observational techniques, while speaking skills data was obtained by practical research. Furthermore, the data were analyzed statistically using the two-average difference test with the independent sample test t-test technique.
Based on the results of data analysis shows there is a significant difference in students' speaking skills using the sociodrama method with students who follow conventional learning. The acquisition of speaking skills playing a character has a t-count value of 5.442 a t-table value of 1.713, and a sign value. 0.00 alpha value 0.05. The acquisition of speaking skills conveys the mandate of the drama with a t-count value of 3.768 a t-table value of 1.713, and a sign value. 0.00 alpha value 0.05 there is a significant difference in speaking skills between groups of students who take lessons using the sociodrama method and students who take lessons using conventional methods
