This study aimed to determine the teacher's strategy to improve students'
motivation in learning from home, its supporting factors, and inhibiting factors at
the Sidabowa MIM (Muhammadiyah Islamic Elementary School) during the
Covid-19 pandemic. The importance of this study was to ease teachers in
determining the strategies used in the online learning process so that students can
learn optimally. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach using
observation, interviews, and documentation as the methods of data collection. The
participants in this study were the principal and teacher of MI Muhammadiyah
Sidabowa. The data and technique triangulations were used to validate the data.
Furthermore, the data were analyzed using the Miles Huberman model including
data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The
results of this study indicated that to increase students' learning motivation during
the covid-19 pandemic, the teachers used various teaching methods, namely
lecture, home visit, offline, and assignment methods. The implementation of those
methods increased the learning motivation of students. The supporting factors in
increasing students' learning motivation were the students' fear of the subject's
difficulty and stay-class, while the inhibiting factors were students' laziness to
participate in lessons and lack of assistance from parents because they worked
until the afternoon.
