Abstract

Specifically, the study was aimed at revealing the implementation of positive reinforcement in English classes. The method used was descriptive-qualitative which focused on collecting information. The sample of the research was English teachers in SMK Ar Rahman Watusalam Pekalongan. The technique for collecting data was observation as the main data and semi-structured interview as the supporting data to gain depth information from the observation.
The result of this research showed that; 1. One teacher was in good category and one teacher was in fair category, 2. Kind of reinforcement used by teachers was verbal reinforcement by showing compliment such as „good‟. Teachers also combined the use of verbal reinforcement and body gesture
