Abstract
Facts on the ground, social studies learning still prioritizes the achievement of cognitive competencies in the form of numbers. The second fact is that now school children in Indonesia are rarely willing to help their parents work at home. Communication between parents and children is not harmonious, children's social sensitivity to the surrounding environment is also very lacking. This study aims to: (1) describe the planning for the development of a simpler Parent Assistance Curriculum so that social skills in social studies learning get attention. (2) Describe the development of the Parent Assistance Curriculum to improve students' social skills in social studies learning. (3) Describe an assessment instrument that can be used to measure students' social skills through the design of the Parent Assistance Curriculum in social studies learning. (4) Describe the learning outcomes in the form of social skills of students after implementing the curriculum to assist parents in social studies learning. This research uses research and development methods. The research was conducted at the Ki Hajar Dewantara Elementary School, Korwilcam Dikpora Banjarnegara. Data collection techniques with interviews and social skill questionnaires. The validation results from the expert team showed an average score of 84.1% that met the criteria for good and was used. The results of field trials showed good results. From the parent respondents, it was found that 89.7% had social skills with the criteria of "very good". From student respondents, the results obtained 89.6% have social skills with the criteria of "very good".
