This study aims to describe the figure of speeches based on the direct or
indirect meaning of the song lyrics by Sheila On 7 in Musim Yang Baik album. The
speech figures of direct or indirect meaning are divided into two, namely rhetorical
and figurative language style. This is a qualitative descriptive study. The object of
research in this study is the language style of Sheila On 7 song lyrics in the music
album. The data of song lyrics in the form of words, sentences, or expressions that
contain a figure of speeches based on the direct meaning of the song lyrics. The data
source is a collection of song lyrics on Sheila On 7 which contains ten song titles. At
the data collection stage, the researchers used two methods, namely reading and notetaking
techniques. The results of the research show 92 data in the form of words in the
song lyrics. The results of the research also found the rhetorical figure of speeches
(85) data consisting of 19 alliterative figure of speech, 18 anastrophic figure of
speech, 2 apophasis figure of speech, 3 asyndeton figure of speech, 3 euphemistic
figure of speech, 1 figurative speech of litotes, 1 pleonasm, 1 tautology, 2 periphrases,
2 prolepses, 3 erotesis, 1 syllepsis, 1 zeugma, 8 hyperbole, 2 paradoxes, 4
oxymoronic. Furthermore, the figurative language (7) data consists of 2 simile figure
of speech, 2 metaphorical figure of speech, 1 fable figure of speech, 1 personification
figure of speech, and 1 hypalase figure of speech. This research is expected to
improve insight into the types of speech figure and as an additional reference for the
knowledge, especially regarding the use and types of speech figure in song lyrics.
