Abstract
This research aimed to describe forms of hybridity and mimicry in a novel entitled Sang Raja written by Iksaka Banu. The historical discourse in this novel shows the real life of the Dutch East Indies people, especially the representation of identity formation due to colonialism and orientalism. One impact is the influence of orientalism in the behaviour of social and cultural relations of colonial society. Orientalism creates social stratification in the form of cultural demarcation practices which are opposed by the birth of hybridity and mimicry figures. This is descriptive qualitative research with a post-colonial literary approach. The research data were collected using reading and writing technique, while the validity of the data was checked using theory triangulation.
