This study aims to describe the study of feminism through the identification
of female characters in Oka Rusmini's novel Tarian Bumi, which includes female
characters' position, principles, and behavior. This was a descriptive qualitative
study. The data source was Tarian Bumi novel by Oka Rusmini. The data in this
study were the text of words, sentences, or discourse in the novel containing the
identification classification of female characters. This study used a feminist
approach. Data collection techniques used reading and note-taking techniques,
while the techniques of data analysis were data reduction, data presentation, and
data verification. The triangulation theory was used to test the data validity. The
results of the study were (1) the position of female characters in society, including
the position as mothers and children who became the breadwinner, (2) the
principle of female characters including as independent character, ambitious
person to become famous dancer, honorable women, unyielding person, principle
women, ambitious women, (3) the behavior of female characters including hard
work and brave.
