Abstract

The study was aimed at describing mathematical reasoning skills viewed from the student learning achievement in class XI MIPA 7 SMA Negeri 1 Ajibarang. It was a qualitative study with Miles and Huberman method which included data reduction, data display, and verification/conclusion drawing. The data sources were 6 students of class XI MIPA7. The subjects were obtained using purposive sampling techniques. The students were grouped into three categories, namely high, medium, and low categories. Two students were selected from each category for research purposes. The data were collected using a written test, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that students with high achievement category have mathematical reasoning skills including drawing analogous conclusions, generalizations, constructing conjectures, drawing logical conclusions based on the rules of reference, checking the validity of arguments, compiling valid arguments, and compiling indirect evidence. The students with the medium achievement category have mathematical reasoning including drawing analogous conclusions, generalizations, drawing logical conclusions based on the rules of reference, checking the validity of arguments and indirect evidence. Meanwhile, the students with the low achievement category only have mathematical learning including drawing analogies, generalizations, constructing conjectures, and drawing conclusions based on inference rules.
