Discipline is an attitude that shows awareness to obey the rules so that it can
be instilled in the character. Therefore discipline is an important issue
especially related to the role of teachers in schools. They are needed in
forming a strong character of students. The purpose of this study was to
describe the role of the teacher in instilling the discipline character of the
sixth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Babakan. This research uses a descriptive
qualitative approach. The research subjects were teachers, principals and
students. Interviews and documentation were used as data collection
techniques. The key instrument is the researcher himself. Test the validity of
the data used source triangulation. The obtained data that were then analyzed
using qualitative data analysis, namely data collection, reducing data,
presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the role of
the teachers in instilling the character of discipline for the sixth-grade students
at SD Negeri 1 Babakan is the role of the teacher as an educator who provides
an example when coming to school, how the teacher get dressed according to
the schedule and applicable regulations. The teacher's role as a teacher also
plays important roles in instilling students-discipline character, it can be done
by providing appropriate methods when teaching. The teacher's role as a
guide is done by carrying out activities in school. The role of the teacher as a
guide is carried out by habituating activities. In addition, the teachers' role as
an assessor is done by observing students from the beginning of the meeting to
provide a description of the assessment through notes on the class report card
