The aim of this study was to describe problem-solving ability and self-efficacy viewed from gender. This is adescriptive qualitative research. The data collection technique was carried out using questionnaire, test questions,and interviews. The respondents in this study were clustered into two different groups based on gender namelymale and female group in which 6 students were then selected to become respondents. Data analysis techniquein this study was conducted in form of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this studyshowed that: (1) male students were able to undertsand the problems well but prefered to use their own methodscursoryly in solving the problems; (2) Female students were able to undertstand the questions, plan, and answerthe questions well and always check their work; (3) Self efficacy in male subjects was good in the dimensions ofmagnitude, strength and generality; and (4) Self-efficacy in female subjects was good in the dimensions ofmagnitude and strength.
