This research is entitled "The Contextual Meaning of Cigarette Advertisement Discourse on Private Television on YouTube Pages". The purpose of this study is to find cigarette advertising discourses that have contextual meanings and explain the meanings contained in the cigarette advertising discourses. The data of this research is in the form of discourse. Sources of discourse data are cigarette advertisements for television stations Trans TV, Trans7, Global TV, and Indosiar. The research phase includes: collecting advertisements, classifying advertisements by type of cigarette, analyzing advertisements based on the principle of contextual meaning, analyzing cigarette advertisements based on contextual meaning in tabular form. Data collection uses the listening method and basic techniques in the form of tapping/downloading from youtube. The next technique is in the form of a note-taking technique, namely transcribing the discourse of cigarette advertisements. Data analysis used contextual method and referential equivalent method. Presentation of data analysis using informal methods and tables. The results of the study are in the form of contextual meanings and meanings contained in the discourse of cigarette advertisements, and describe the influence or impact of cigarette advertisements.
