Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of online learning at SD
Negeri 3 Karangtalun Kidul, to find out the obstacles faced by teachers, and to
know the teacher's strategies in handling the obstacles. This study used a
qualitative type of research conducted by taking 19 participants consisting of
principals, teachers of grades I-VI, and students of grades I-VI. Observation,
interviews, and documents were used to collect data. The data were then analyzed
using the Miles Huberman techniques: data collection, data reduction, data
display, and conclusions: drawing/verifying. Validity test of the data used
triangulation of data and techniques. The results of this study indicate the
implementation of online learning is conducted through the WhatsApp
application. Collaboration among school principals, teachers, students, and
parents is carried out well. The obstacles faced include unstable signal or internet
network connection, no direct interaction between students and the teachers as
the learning was carried out online, students' difficulty in understanding the
material, inability to monitor students directly, students' cellphone ownership,
limited student quotas, and practical materials that could not be implemented
directly. The strategies taken to overcome the obstacles include installing wifi
networks at schools, suggesting parents replace the data card with a better
connection, providing learning videos uploaded to YouTube to ease students in
understanding the materials, collaborating with parents to monitor the students,
urging parents and students with no cell phones to study with friends, suggesting
parents and students use internet quota wisely, and providing videos about
practical material uploaded to YouTube to students, and giving assignments about
the practical material.
