Abstract

This study aimed to find out the effectiveness of model eliciting activities (MEAs)
learning on mathematical creative thinking skills and students' self-confidence.
This study used post test only control design and the population was all students
of the seventh grade of SMP Negeri 3 Purwokerto. Sampling was determined by
cluster random sampling technique and it obtained two sample classes, namely
class VII A as a control class with direct learning and class VII C as an
experimental class with Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs)learning. After testing
the hypothesis on the data post-test results of mathematical creative thinking skills
with Independent Sample T-Test test, it obtained sig value = 0.0025, because
sig. <0.05 then H0 was rejected, this indicated that students' creative thinking
skills with Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) Learning was better than the
mathematical creative thinking skills of students taking direct learning.
Hypothesis testing on the data obtained from the self-confidence questionnaire
'with Mann-Whitney test obtained sig value= 0.0165, because sig.<0.05 then H0
was rejected, this indicated that the self-confidence of students who participated
in the Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) learning was better than the selfconfidence
of students who took direct learning.
