This study aimed to determine the effect of the STEAM approach on preschool
children's creativity. The subjects of this study were 20 students of Aisyiyah
Bustanul Athfal Kalipetung Kindergarten. The type of this study was experimental
research using the pretest-posttest control group design. The data collection
techniques used in this study were observation sheets and documentation. The
research instruments used were the creativity observation sheets of children aged
5-6 years old. This study applied the data analysis technique of IBM SPSS version
26 with the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results showed that at the pretest
stage, the mean of the experimental group was 12.0, while the one from the
control group was 11.6, and the children's creativity was in a low category. After
being given treatment and carrying out the post-test, the mean of the experimental
group rose to 22.5 while the one from the control group also rose to 13.1. From
the results of the mean both the pretest and posttest, the experimental group's
average value rose by 10.5, while the one from the control group rose by 1.5.
After being analyzed using SPSS with the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, the
significance value of the experimental group was 0.005, while the one from the
control group was 0.004. The significance value of both groups was less than
0.05. In conclusion, the STEAM approach has an effect on the creativity of
preschool children in Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Kalipetung Kindergarten, Wangon
Sub-District, Banyumas Regency.
