Abstract

The aim of the study was to analyze the student‟s mathematical literacy
skills in solving HOTS questions viewed from the students learning
independence of class XI IPA 1 MAN 1 Banyumas. This study was used a
qualitative description. The sample of this study was 6 students from class XI
IPA 1 were obtained using purposive sampling. The results of this study
indicate that the mathematical literacy ability of students in the group of high
learning independence subjects have written things that are known and asked,
have written steps that are easy to understand, have chosen and explained
strategies in finding mathematical solutions, have written and used
mathematical language, mathematical symbols, write down the formulas used,
and have modeled real problems into mathematical representations. The
learning independence group is already choosing and using strategies in finding
mathematical solutions, has written and used mathematical language, arithmetic
symbols and has modeled real problems into a mathematical representation.
The low learning independence group subjects have chosen and used strategies
in finding mathematical solutions and subjects have written and used
mathematical language, arithmetic symbols.
